ARRIVAL BY AIR
For tourists with a
little more budget to spare, you can just fly in to Langkawi. The island boasts
an international airport that can accommodate B747s with the capability to
handle 2.5 million passengers annually and 1,000 passengers during peak hours.
Located in Padang Mat Sirat, the airport is about 20km from Kuah town and 8km
from the beach resorts in Pantai Cenang. Direct air services from Kuala Lumpur,
Penang and Singapore are provided by Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, AirAsia, Silk
Air and Berjaya Air. There are also direct or connecting international flights
to Langkawi from Finland, Korea, Kazakhstan and Russia. Please check with your

Firefly is Malaysia's first community airline, flying from
Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang 8 times a week, from Penang 7 times
a week, and from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) once a week to

you plan ahead and get a promotional fare. AirAsia flies from Low Cost
Carrier Terminal (LCCT) Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) 65 times a
week, from Penang 8 times a week, and from Singapore 7 times a week to

If you’re on a budget

Ferries and cruises to Langkawi offer tourists the unique and natural
experience of travelling over water to the mystical islands of Langkawi.
Ferry
The ferries operate four routes to Langkawi from Kuala Kedah,
Kuala Perlis, Penang and Satun, Thailand around the clock – all onto the Kuah
Jetty of Langkawi. Ferries are running daily every 45 mins (Kuala Perlis)
from 7.00am - 7.00pm. The time it’ll take to ferry to Langkawi varies,
according to where you’re travelling from, ferry operator and sometimes the
weather. Usually it will take you from as soon as 1 hour to sometimes over 2
hours to get there.
